Abandoned boxes in the driveway in front of the shelter with the cutest family inside
On a busy Saturday afternoon at
the RSPCA’s Coventry Animal Centre, the shelter was in full swing, and at full
capacity, and the entire staff team was extremely overwhelmed. However, the
kept pushing on, hoping for a break, and at around 4 pm, they found a cat
carrier which was abandoned in the middle of their driveway. In a press
release, Coventry Animal Centre’s deputy manager Dave Budd says this regarding
the carrier: “Despite our reception being open at this time, a man appeared to
hide until a member of staff walked away from the area and then ran away after
dropping the carrier.”

The confused staffers peered inside and found a momma cat with her kittens, covered in fleas, and desperately needing some tender loving care. Although the shelter was jam packed and full, they knew the cat family couldn’t be left alone and pooling ideas and finally figured it out. Budd went on to say: “We cannot operate on a system where people suddenly dump animals on us. Our cattery is full and so are our foster spaces. Thankfully, one of our experienced members of staff looked after the cats on Saturday night.”

The entire staff team chipped in helping the newest family to settle in, and started their road to recovery by giving them all the help and care they so desperately needed. The momma cat Trinity was extremely underweight when she first came in, but over time, she’s been eating well. With time, she also warmed up to the staff at the rescue, and is grateful for them for taking them in and keeping them safe. Budd also says: “She adores the kittens and rarely lets them roam far from her. Madison and Navey are doing well and, although they’re nervous of people, they’re coming around slowly.”
Although the center was running
at full capacity, the staff found a way to take care of Trinity and her
children, and with that, they’re all receiving all the love and care that they
never received before. When the trio is at full health, they’ll be ready to
find their forever homes, and then they would be living the happiest of lives
that they truly deserve. Finally Budd had this to say: “We’d like to thank
everyone who has donated to help us care for this little family and who has
offered foster spaces; we’re incredibly grateful and we couldn’t do the vital
work we do without the amazing support from the local community.”
